tender star

What can one say about Buttaolo's artwork without mentioning it's originality...

This piece, titled 'tender star', really made an impact on me. To begin with it kinda freaked me out a little because I associated the roundness of the characters head and chubby body with that of a babies. However, the bright colours and composition drew me in... and a closer inspection of the characters attitude and make-up revealed a 'babe' of different kinds... This is one funky rock chick!

An interesting design that mixes sexy with cute whilst throwing in a little bit of 'weird'... A fresh approach! If you like it, check out Battaolo's flickr account which is bursting with more of these surreal characters!

Wow! Such praise. I'm delighted you like my girls. I've been going through a phase of "toughening them up" recently. I still like the funny sexy thing (because I do think sex is funny - Flickr is evidence enough of that) but I've noticed a (slightly) darker (more serious) side creeping into my work. I think it may be all the weird and wonderful pervs I've come across (no pun intended) on Flickr. I feel really proud that a lot of admirers (of my girls) are women. I lived through all that f***d up 70's/80's, politically correct thing and now we can all admit that women are sexy and they love being sexy in all sorts of ways. Incidently, a lot of my favourite erotic illustrators are women. Women like Georgie Tier, who has a similar attitude to me and loves to fun and explicit and who's women aren't all pnuematic pumped up Booby Barbies. PS why do so many illustrators think sexy girls means (lipsticky) lesbian?
